Depending on how fast you are trying to go, I have seen one that was made from an old lawn mower motor and a BMX, had a fair size gear on the back wheel too from memory. It went ok, but certainly not overly fast. I would think the whipper snipper motor would need some serious gear reduction.

A guy who lived near us use to have a whipper snipper motor on his bike and he would ride along the highway every day.
It seemed to get up to some pretty impressive speeds to:eek:
I'm interested in it so when you get going post some pics:D

Why not take the fuel tank off while welding? They are usually easy to get off.

Gday all
When I was 15 I made a Victa Powered BMX Pushbike. I picked up a few Victa lamnmowers from the local tip and a BMX pushbike. I horizontally mounted the engine into the frame and used a skateboard wheel to run on the crankshaft. Victas have a tappered crankshaft and had a boss that pushed onto the taper.
I had a Suzuki RM 250 Carb on the motor and man it used to go. I was clocked by the copper in the town I lived in riding at 90km/h up a hill out of the town. I have photos of it somewhere.
The fun ended when I crash landed and broke my wrist requiring SS screws to be inserted in my wrist.

My little bro made a powered bmx by mounting the engine over the front wheel and used a skateboard wheel with grooves cut into it using and angle grinder to drive the front tyre, the bloody thing could keep up with traffic. There were 2 long brackets that attached to the wheel studs and another of the top of the forks somewhere. I have one of those scooter engines with centrifugal clutch here that i'm still deciding what to do with.
