Hi Guys
I am after an axle stand style stand for lifting the draw bar up on the boat trailer. the Jockey wheel gets a bit bendy at full extension so need to support it a bit better for when im working on it (read spending money on it)
so im after a stand that is similar to an axle stand, but has a screw type adjustment on it rather than pins or ratchets..... i also need a lot of lift! if i could get a 350mm - 600mm range that would do me... (the boats is on a drive sloping the wrong way)
any ideas where i could get one? perth or mail order is fine :D
Thanks
Steve

Steve,
What you want is an "ALKO" heavy duty adjustable "Jockey Wheel Jack Stand". They replace the jockey wheel on your trailer, have a base plate instead of the wheel, and a wind-up jacking handle. You can get them in a range of lengths / heights.
Should be able to get them through Trailer Parts WA -
Bayswater 9279 5777
O'Connor 9314 2222
Wangara 9302 2800
Hope this helps. Cheers ............... BM

Thanks for that BM, i looked at those, unfortunately i cant use them as they dont swing up, and the draw bar sits too low to have just a normal type lift up one. The jockey wheel i have is a 10" swing up type...
i will have another look tho.. as maybe i could run both on there...
another bit of info.. its a twin axle trailer and i cannot lift the drawbar. The noseweight is pretty high... otherwise i'd be picking it up and dumping it on a stand.. :)
Thanks

No worries Steve. Another option might be to install a drop down corner jack (as fitted under the corners of camper trailers / caravans) under your drawbar. Most of these fold up flat when not in use, and there are various designs available which will drop down onto the ground, and then you can wind the legs down further to get the lift you need.
The one I'd look at is the BIG FOOT 590MM ALKO Part no: AS-2177. Any decent trailer parts supplier should be able to get these. Have a look at
Caravan,RV,Marine and Motorhome parts and accessories online, rollout awnings (http://www.allstores.com.au/?Nav=Pdt&product_id=2177&category_id=11&sub_category_id=44&PageID=8&wp=8)
Another couple of places to look are
Caravan and Trailer Jacks (http://www.lets-getaway.com/caravan-jacks.htm)
RV - 00 RV Accessories (http://www.camec.com.au/00-RV%20Accessores.htm)

I was at supercheap the other day and they were selling axle stands with screw thread adjustment, brand was Stanfred or similar two-name combination.
I have a pair, same brand that I bought a dozen years ago, still going strong.
I saw that the new ones come with a grease nipple to lubricate the threads.
Look the goods.

just nick an acro prop from someones scaffolding :)
preferrably when not in use!!
secondary benefit, if you are working under a roof and mount the prop between floor and ceiling, it can also prevent the boat tipping up if all the weight is in the back. I'd mount it in the jockey wheel's clamp too for extra security.

i did think about that... but i'm not working between floor and ceiling! the boat is about 3m height and the garage is only 2.2 :( wish i could keep it under cover.. wouldnt need the prop then :)
thanks for the number agro.. will call them and find out..
