Last nite over a few beers,Hippie the gardener told us we shouldnt be working today (RDO=Good $$$$).
Well it turned out he was right.
Roller driver wanted the day off so another worker took his place.I get grading and he turns up in the ute, radiator cap was missing from the roller and no water, off he went to get some water.
Got to the end of the run,he says I better come for a ride in the roller, sounds like the bigends are ratteling.Sure enough a hell of a rumble.I noticed the chimney was mooving more than normal, sure enough the bolts had fallen out of the mount and was chaffing the injector return line.We pinched a bolt to do a temp fix.Was close to smoko time I pulled up next to him turned the grader off so I could here him, told him when he gets the roller going and catches up we will have smoko.Went to re-start and the key just turned and nothing:eek::eek::eek: could only get the dash to light up.Tried shorting the starter motor with the dash on(ie power to computer) could only get the starter to wizz over no engagement.
The barrel was to be replaced on mondays service as it was throwing error codes over the last couple of days.So unable to start the grader parked in the middle of the road had to wait 3 hours for new lock barrel to come down from Perth.
The techie said even if I tricked it into starting via the starter motor, which he says should be impossible the computer requires a prompt from the ignition barrel to enable unlocking the transmission,a theft prevention innovation!!!
Double time sitting arond a campfire for 3 hours!!!
Any other friday the 13th bad luck stories????

Day started with a concrete truck dropping bits of dried concrete the size of half a house brick on the road in front of me to dodge and ended with the drive from our depot near the airport to the gateway motorway taking an hour, when its normally a 5 minute drive.

Am starting to believe in supersticion (is that how its spelled ???)

How bout the good stuff going up to $1.92 per lt, filled the work tanker up thismorning at $1.87. But by the time I got back thisarvo to top up the defender the price had gone up.
$215 spent in less than 5 mins.
Thats black Friday for you.

I do know others are allready paying that price, but it means that tonight Im drinking a blend not single malt:(.

Driving around all day, everything fine - Subaru, not Defender.

Out for dinner, load everyone into the car, taking a drive to pick up some hubs I won off ebay unannounced and get the kids to sleep.

Speedo doesn't work, fine we can live without.

Friday night loonies run every single red light between Leichhardt and Granville on the Parramatta Road.

The bloke isn't home - that doesn't really count, I didn't call until we were a block away.

The kids didn't fall asleep.

The Check Engine light came on halfway home and didn't go off.

Still haven't fixed the Defender, so back to zero cars for a while.

Cheers
Simon

Not really black friday for me but heading out of town to a job this morning I was second or third at a semi trailer roll over. The semi was carting 28 prime angus steers. Put the hazards on and jumped out (no jumper as the disco was warm), check driver (leaking a bit but ok), seeen I could do nothing to help the bellowing cattle (poor bastards), then took over traffic control (wish some bastards would slow down abit and watch where they were going), maintained traffic controll for about 3/4 of an hour then one cop arrived and she give me a safety vest (wouldnt part with her bloody coat though), ambo's arrived, more cops, SES arrived and took over traffic control. Also in this time a couple of local farmers arrived and moved 8 cattle into one of there paddocks, permission granted by the cops to put some of the cattle out of pain by rifle until vet arrived. I think there was only 9 cattle to survive. So I was in the thick of it for just over an hour with a thin cotton shirt in rain/wind and near zero temps, didnt regain full use of my fingers for about 2 hrs.
cheers

Someone last night engaged in anti social behaviour they spread **** across the walls of a work site toilet and then someone else decided to do a crap in the middle of the crib hut of a contractor work crew on site after a morning tool box meeting and discovered just before the morning crib break.

So more like a Brown Friday than a Black One

Well, it happens, put it that way.
20 people on a 2 way range with refs in flouro vests running around makes us an easy target.
I uaually get my own back later in the day:twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted:
