ok, clutch wasnt work, so , i thought, what is the worse that can happen, pumped up clutch, held it in, put it in first, fired it up... nothing, car starter, didn't move... good sign, eased off the clutch - it moved.. ok, before i crash into the garage door, clutch in, land rover stops. nice, reverse selected, clutch out, back we go :)
woo hoo.looks like all the clutch needs is some fine tuning.
job for the weekend, bleed brakes, test and turn it around ,then fit the guards and doors etc...

G'day srowlandson :)
It looks and sounds OK, the clutch on a Series 2/2a is what is called Hydrostatic, and self adjusts, after being set up upon clutch/pressure plate replacement, it will be a little stiff if the vehicle has not moved for some months, but will free up upon use, the only problem that could cause jerkyness is the flexable hose (RTC3353) deteriorating internally,as they are known to do, but I would suggest that you move it around, up and down your driveway and see how it goes, the clutch pedal take-up height is an indicator as to how worn the friction plate is, ANY adjustment of that is done by adjusting the slave cylinder push rod shorter not longer ;) but, if the pedal take-up height is OK leave it alone.
cheers
