I have not had my 2001 TD5 for long so last week it had its first longer trip to Busselton and beyond from perth. A trip of 763kms with mostly hwy driving and some city driving. On return it took 68.3 litres. It certainly beats the old V6 4runner gas gobbler. I just had to tell someone.

Cool!
I get about 9.5l/100kms out of mine.
Bit of a trap though as with the Longranger tank it costs well over $200 to fill the bugger!
Went to Dunsborough and Margs for the June long weekend, cruised around and only used about a half a tank.

Yep stoked. Now its time to do a service so I know that all the oils and fluids are good. So what brand filters and oils do you recommend. Is genuine the way to go or are there cheaper good quality alternatives.
Cheers Dave

Off thread,
Hi Dave, your Name interests me!
Are you a airport firey or airborne firey?
I suspect Airservices, as I'm Helitack pilot and can't put your name & 4 Runner together to link you to FESA or Heli Aust.
Just interested.

Hi, I am an airport firey, I have visited your work quite a few times.
We dont tend to work much with you guys but we do help out with filling the water bombers when they are needed. They use the hydrant at the fire station on twy Foxtrot.
I have a great pic of 2 of your choppers filling up at the same time from a lake near where I live. I will send you a copy if you like.
Cheers Dave

ive only had my TD5 (99) since May and I drive from NW Sydney into essentially Botany every day (mind you it is 5am) and I get 850-900k a tank. Going skiing in a couple of weeks. Hanging to see how it goes both getting there and back and on some white stuff :D

Still NOT happy with mine.
50lts 399km:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Must add it was a camping trip loaded up with the big tent on the roofrack,270k trip. And a firewood trip,90ks,trailer weighed 2080kg over the weighbridge.
Wasnt happy with my throttle response, huge on what it was,now adjusted all the freeplay out of the wastgate, instant boost,1.1bar max. Will see if it improves:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:
Even more power than the last adjustment:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

That's 12.5l a 100 klms with all that weight Andy, that's pretty good. I don't think you will get it much better, especially with the roof rack.
I burnt 25 litres a 100 coming back from Shark Bay with the van on the back after you turn north at Mybilly road house with the most fearsome head wind I have ever encountered. It was ugly, had to just about run 3 gear most of the way for 400k. Usually I get 15-18 l a 100 when the 2,500 kg is on the back.
