Hi all

Would the gearbox gurus be able to tell me if this box from my 1970 2a donor is syncro or not?

I am also having trouble ID ing the axles and brakes of my 2a project "mongrel" here is a link to the axles and brakes. http://www.aulro.com/afvb/projects-tutorials/56261-building-mongrel.html#post786402

Thanks in advance Andy.

The top cover at least is a SIIA, suffix F box, so non synchro.

But the top covers can be swapped...

I think only some/all of the suffix H boxes had synchro. Your box is a few years before that though.

EDIT:
The fine(24) spline outer / 10 spline inner with UJ was the setup used on SIII 109" vehicles. So that is a SIII or very late IIA axle - the axle number would help.

The brakes look like 6cyl/v8 linings - are they 3" wide? Do you have pics of the drums?

I agree with Isuzurover . The 24 spline outer ends on the front axles came with all Landrover 109s fitted with salisbury axles, whether late 2a or 3. In very late S3 production they were extended to 88s as well. Apart from the drive flange though, they are interchangeable, and I have seen some with 10 one side and 24 the other!
