Well after much consternation, I have done a deal with olmate and purchased ol'ute; Troy's fantastically turned out 107" S1 (Haven't seen it in the flesh yet but reading Troy's thread was enough for me :) ). She looks a beaut!
Can't wait to get it to it's new home - I'll have to be patient and wait for a couple of weeks :(
Plans - fix the few small bits, maybe a couple of new tyres and get her registered!!!(Thinking of maybe putting a 2.25 in it but that'll be something to ponder for sometime in the future!)
It'll get a cushy life down in the 'burbs - maybe a few small day trips and the occasional burble through the hills.
Of course the name "ol ute" will stay - like a boat it'd be bad luck to change her name.
I checked the rego database and the original rego is available so I will look to use that too.
How excitement!!!:banana::banana::banana::banana:

Nice looking landie - rather than putting in a 2.25, if the holden engines runs OK why not leave it until you find an original engine - I assume it is a siamese 2 litre rather than the later 2 litre - at least it will keep it close to original - but then it depends on what you will use it for.

I s'pose getting hold an original engine may be take a little while. If it goes as well as it looks I am sure the holden donk will do just fine for while. :)

Hello Sleepy,
I have a 1955 107" Number: 57761023 It has its original Late 2.0 engine in it so yours should be a late 2.0L. Which means full flow oil filtering, better cooling just generally a better motor.

Better than..............??;)
I'll certainly be on the lookout for an original donk but quite frankly I intend gettin it on the road and drving it, so maybe the 2.0 will have to wait til I wear out the holden 6 :D
It has a 202 mated to a series 3 gearbox and this sounds like a lovely combo for the gentle trundling that I intend doing.

Well Paul, only a few days to go now :D. The Ol’ Ute has been parked undercover since you bought it and I have slowly been placing all the ‘stuff’ that goes with her into the tray. She got a run on last Sunday .. well I rolled her out and ran the motor for a bit… then she was put away again. ;)
Give me a pm if you need some boxes or the like to pack things with for the move and I shall see if I can sort some out between now and Saturday ( oh yes – I will pm you my home address … that would be a good idea :D:D:D).
The garage won’t be free from a series 1 for too long as I am planning on getting Shorty on Sunday – you know; so I wont sook for too long either……:o
I have the diary and receipts there for you, along with a CD with a heap of photos, make sure that you remind me when you pick ol ute up – that way you wont be driving off without them.
See you on Saturday.:)

Thanks Troy,
I'll PM you tonight with a few questions.
May not get the trailer til about 11 or 12 on Sat so that probably means I will not get there until mid to late afternoon :( (3 "ish" hours to wodonga from tullamarine?)
I was hoping to depart at sparrows but have to wait for the trailer to arrive from Stawell.
I was thinking of delaying until Sunday but I can't wait ! :D
How excitment!

G'day Paul, you'll love his shed. I've hade a car trailer in there before so you shouldn't have any pick up dramas.

The wife just shakes her head...
Yeah mine too.
"You've already got an old ute" she says
"Ah yes but this is a classic...It's a series 1". I say, like a puppy before dinner
"But it looks just the same as that one" she say pointing to the Series 2
"Nah this ones a beauty - you wait". I stress enthusiastically
"Ok whatever makes you happy dear" she says going back to the paper.
They just don't understand - It's a Land Rover thing ! :D
