Gudday.
Will an ARB roof rack for a Defender fit onto a Disco 1 without too much mucking around? I've asked ARB about changing the mounts but they've said they only do half length roof racks for the Disco.

No it wont.
Sell your defender roofrack (one went for $600+ on ebay recently) and get a disco one.

Its the same width between the gutters, so if the ARB rack has "high" enough feet to clear the Disco roof, then yes it will fit. I have a genuine Land Rover rack on mine, the same rack fits Disco 1 and 2 and defenders as well

Depends, if its the 1350 wide ARB then it wont fit
But if its the 1250? one then just buy the longer legs...
Slunnie has a full length ARB on his Disco.
Careful, the added weight will crack the B pillar mounts.

The legs on the defender ARB rack are too short, need to be higher to clear the high bit at the back of the disco.
ARB sell them separtley so go and get your self a set of disco legs and fit them to your arb rack and job done .
I will buy your Defender ones as i have an ARB on my disco and want defender legs for my defender so i can swap the rack back and forth :D:D

This may be do-able... I'll look into it...
Although, I wonder if they'll sell me 6 legs when they only do a half length rack for a disco normally. Maybe the roof isn't strong enough?

They sell them in Pairs so no problem with getting 6
And even though ARB don't make a full lenth for a disco others do so the roof can take it .

$330 for a set of replacement legs!
That plus the cost of the rack, which is a bargain from Sniegy at $250, brings some other options into play...
Roof racks are far more expensive than I thought...
