Hi Westy,
See specifically this post (http://www.aulro.com/afvb/technical-chatter/41281-4bd1-compatible-starter-motor.html#post579253) from that thread.
I had an auto electrician stick a new motor into my existing case. Works a treat.

The case (reduction box) part is the important bit. The electric motor is reasonably common. I had the motor replaced on mine last year. It came off a Toyota starter and bolted straight on.

Hi Westy, Heres a couple of numbers that may help you out. Ashdown electrical (wholesalers) have a 12V 3 bolt starter P/N 01-76561. Ingram electrical also have one P/N 843843 and then there is the Army type mitsubishi unit Isuzu part no 8944634730 which I reckon is the best unit if you can get hold of one. Regards....Brian

Hi westy
My starter is out of an Canadian Isuzu NPR Truck but it has three bolts and is 12v My part# is 5811001692 and the tag says Isuzu I'll e mail you some photos. It looks to be the same as the one in a landy. I hope this helps.
Regards, Justin
Here's an edit... I just Checked with a supplier in the U.S MY P/N HAS BEEN SUPERSEDED BY PART# 8973580621. It looks like you have a load of different p/n to check on. I have also sent the pictures of my starter to your e mail...Cheers

Looks OK, although the numbers are slightly different to those posted, probably just a different model or year or superceeded to another number.
I know its a bit scratched but look closely it does state "12V" and it is a 3 bolt unit
Does anybody know what model/year its off? I bought the engine from a farmer in Tassie who said it was in a stage 1
Cheers westy

Contact PJL diesel electric in Perth. Ask for Cameron. These guys do nothing but electrics for diesel applications. They can cross reference just about anything and Cameron is a wizard!
