Depends what sort of Rangie you have.
I have an 85A alternator from a falcon (Au I think). The auto elec just changed over the pulley for me and it almost bolted straight in.

Does the 3.9 run v belts or serpentine.
What size alternators do you have?

the 3.9 will take the early holden/ford 65 amp alternator the original pulley on them is a mickey hair out but near enough to work if you have the belt driven units.
if you have the serpentine belt use the same alternator and swap pulleys

Not sure if you have seen this, but I converted mine to a Bosch unit from a Bitsmissing Magna.
