i have d1 v8, after turning off the iginition you can hear the fan still running. is this normal? it has been getting a little hot, not over half way though.

last time i waited 5 mins and it didnt turn off so i took out the 30am fuse from under the bonnet. then replaced it and the fan stopped.

this hasnt happened b4 onlt twice in last 2 days, just want to be sure.

thanks

As pedro said, they will run until the engine cools down, i wouldnt worry. Be more worried if it doesnt come on at all

I'd be working out why it's done it.

when mt TD5 did it, the radiator was full of mud.

It's common but 5 minutes does seem like a long time. I'd say it's worth looking into.

On the D1 I filled when changing the coolant I filled the system through the actual radiator filler hole on top drivers side of the radiator - and also filled the overflow tank. On the D1 this filler hole can be used to bleed the system.

I wouldnt just flush it out, I would pull it out and wash out the core aswell.

It is not inside the radiator that gets filled up with bugs and mud it is outside in the fins.

Dont use a pressure washer or you will bend the fins over and use plenty of water from both sides of the radiator making sure you get all the stuff you can out of it or else it will harden in the core and you will be in a worse predicament.

It's not hard, the hardest part is removing the fan if you dont have the tool to hold the pulley.
