Hi Everyone,
I am cleaning up the reservoir as it has sat for 10 years. Can anyone tell me if the fittings joining the lines to the reservoir have any type of caskets at all. The reason I ask is that when I disconnected the brake line and fittings from the reservoir it had a black type of stuff on the inside face of the brake outlet hole. Would this be an old casket or possibly just sediment type of stuff that has built up. It was quite hard to clean off. Please note that I had been washing out the reservoir with acetone before I decided to pull it completly apart to clean/inspect. All help and ideas would be great. I checked the repair manual however no detail provided. Does anyone have a spare parts book with this detail?
Many Thanks Ben.

The lines wont have a gasket where they enter/exit. The design of the flare and nut is enough to generate a seal.

As Slunnie says - no washer in the parts book.

the black goop will be whats left of the rubber gasket that seals the lid thats deteriorated in the presence of brake fluid and congealed at the bottom

Do you mean the fitting that bolts through the reservior to provide the flare seat? I put a fibre gasket here to stop it leaking. Not on the flare, but between the fitting and the metal body of the reservior.
