Well the Disco is not firing up, and I suspect it may the fuel pump. AGAIN!
Since the other one was put in, it has not felt right, the gauge has been all over the shop, and never read anywhere near accurate.
Anyway...about 2 weeks ago, spoke to the mechanics who said they would replace it, no charge, cause they've had a few with issues.
Yesterday, I go to start the Disco and get nothing but cranking and the whining fuel pump from the back. Tried to prime, tired to reset, etc, etc.
What else could this be?
I called Mechanic and they are closed for 2 weeks, they tell me can't get ya a fuel pump, can't help ya. We're back in the New Year.
Thanks a ****en lot ya jerks! Had reservations about them for a while now, which are now confirmed.
Needless to say, I won't be going near them again!
So, I'm up for another bill from somewhere else, and probably no car over Christmas. Not good & not happy JAN!!!

Feeling for ya
Who is the maker of this fuel pump?? .... Can't you fit a second hand unit in it yourself? ... then send the old / new unit back and demand a refund

If it is the pump, just go to a LR dealer, buy a new one and fit it yourself. Its not too difficult.
is it not law that there must be some sort of warranty on new parts?
Dont even consider a second hand one

If the fuel pump is whining, odds are its pumping. It should just pump fro 3 seconds then stop until teh engine starts or you turn the ign off and turn on again.
So it may be something else, or maybe you have just flooded it.
First try to start holding your accelerator down fully, without pumping for about 20-30 seconds. If it starts you have flooded it which may be old drooly injectors.
If not then maybe your immobiliser is crook or the ignition is faulty.
Maybe push it out to the street and call the NRMA or RACV or whatever.

Whoops I assumed V8.
Well all a diesel needs is timely fuel, compression and valves that work, although the ECU in a TD5 is apparently like a V8 in concept.

Have changed sheds Pedro :D
It was the fuel pump, the previous jerks had some dodgy supply (probably cheap chinese copy) fuel pumps. They still charged top dollar for that and fitting.
Now the blue starts to get a refund:bat:
Meanwhile back at the batcave, need a few things replaced, like rear diff, transfer case, and a few other items. Would like to give a Belfast cracker to the previous mech's I can tell ya:twisted:

Not saying they're a good workshop, but everyone who owns their own business is entitled to working out how much holiday time they're allocating.
