Hi all,
Does anybody know some one who can cut my d2 guards (and doors) to fit 35" tyres?? I do not trust my self and using a lot of self control to stay away from it.
Gold Coast, Bris or northern NSW.
All help is greatly appreciated.

Get your wife to make the marks and supervise the cut;)

You'll be right. just mark around the wheel arch with a crayon and hit it with the angle grinder. If you're worried about the angle grinder then use a sawzall.
What tyres/rims/lift?
Here is how I did it.

if you are unsure, just cut 20 mm lower than the mark, trial fit and trim again, its not that hard (its just scary to see how much metal you have to remove) just triple check all the measurements..if you are using les richmond xl flares the instructions are relatively straight forward to understand.

Yes seen both your jobs and very impressed.

My lift is only 50mm but will lift to 100mm
Have not picked out tyres yet, running mzt 31.5 at the moment
Rims are pro comp rock crawlers with quite a large off set (tyres just stick out the out side of the flares by 10mm.
Could I fit 34" with out cutting??
thanks both for your help

Gday Baffle no worries, 100mm will be fine. The real difficulty is making the front work rather than the rear, but even 30mm bump stop spacers will make it work. My front has sagged from 4" down to about 2.5" now and there are no probs.
With the tyres you also need to look at the treadface shape as tyres like the Simex JT2 have quite a broad face, but its also convex, where tyres like the MTZ have a fairly flat treadface and may require a little more cutting to make them work.
The offset definately helps, the implication is that with standard offset the tyre will still tuck into the guard at full compression, where an offset rim will mash through into the guard, and so requires a significanlty bigger cut over the wheel. Flares like the Rangie Spares flares will do this and cover the cut.
Any radial tyre larger than a 285/75-16 or a Simex 33x10.5 needs cutting.

Once you've made the first incision you'll be fine, it's the first one that gets ya.
What kind of flares have you got? If you haven't bought any, I'd highly recommend the Flexi Flares. Really wrapped with mine.

hey boxer you got any good close up shots of the whole flare.....and any chance of you PM'ing me the place of purchase and cost??
I need to cut my guards again so this time although I'm not a lover of flares I want to put something on that will tidy things up
