Thats not a bad buy, gives you plenty of options to personalize the vehicle to your own taste.

I just bought a 98 man 300tdi with 180,000 for just over $12,000 but it doesn't need anything done to it, came with bull bar, tow bar, driving lights, up graded suspension, 120 lt fuel tank, UHF radio etc. Anything else I need I will take off the other one I have before I sell it.

as soon as i got it a put a new header tank in as the old one was cracked in the hole on the top of it
got the tank and cap forr a $100

than chnged the oil and filter, put injector cleaner in and a new air filter

by this stage it was going so much better than the day i bought it

a few things i kept from the jeep was

fridgemate fridge
otima big blue top
gme tx 3400

so i put the optima in it was a tight squeeze and had to make up a bracket to hold it in but it worked a treat

pic here when it works

got a smart solenoid from arb and it works great, i earthed it when putting it in and it wasnt working on its own so i set up an override fora few days than took the overide off and it worked how it should

than i put my uhf in i mounted the main unit up under the steering colum and the head unit works a treat here

pic here when it works

the gme tx3400 is great with the hed unit it makes it so easy to find a place to put it, the main unit is near the steering colum, and the head unit is great where it is
http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/775/discodashew5.th.jpg (http://img18.imageshack.us/my.php?image=discodashew5.jpg)

the tires took some triiming to fit but they got there

http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/971/disco1dd7.th.jpg (http://img155.imageshack.us/my.php?image=disco1dd7.jpg)

fitting the optima was a close one it only just fits in but damm its a good battery has never let me down and the isolator from arb works great to, i couldent buy holer for it so i made one up put of rhs and it is better than a bought one

been thinking about a cargo barrier, and want to know peoples thoughts on one out of a different car fitting, can one be modified or used and still be safe,
how do they normally mount into the car to hold so much pressure, im going to be settin up some draws nest to the fridge, with a middle section for the space case, and a section up top for lightweight things, simillar design to waht you see outback advertising

For a cheap bar find an ARB bar off a classic rangie and then mod to your design, it will bolt straight on so thats the hardest part done.

Thats an interesting chop you've done to the bumper. I've had mine naturally re-aranged a few times now so I might do similar until I can afford a decent bar. Good work :BigThumb:

well havent got anymore done been busy being a new dad,

been thinking that im not sure if the steps will support the car for a highlift so i been thinking would it be an idea to bend up 2 sections of plate one for the front and one for the rear and weld it to the angle underneath than bent up and out to the outer edge of the step with the centre having a flat area for the arm of the jack to rest would this help to get a good positioning and strengthen the step from wanting to flex

You can get the sahara bar look by buying a normal ARB winch bar and lopping the hoops off;)

thought about it and that was plan A however i would than have to lop the centre hoop chrome dip it and weld it back on and with a standard bar it would look weird without the plastic caps on the front, and it would also be hard to get the sahara light provisions right, this way the hoop is done the plastic caps are on the light provisions are there and its ready for a low mount winch to

well im going to tell me secrets a bit at a time its a bit of a tease i know but thats the whole idea muahaha.....

so the bar...its not of a disco 2 if thats what anyone was thinking

and something im excited about is the foglight spots are the big round ones
not the ones in the black plastic and with a little jazfab there will be a set of lightforce 140's in there wih yellow filters

does anyone have a pic of the mounts on an arb bar for a d1

and now the missus has given me the boot
so ill be moving into my new place on the 10th april where ill have a single garage that ill be setting up a workshop in, until now ive had a garage with no acess to power so when i wanted to do work i had to go get all the gear and take it up to the house as the garage i had was a few streets away once i move into the new place it will be full steam ahead night and day, been looking at the bar and i think if it is to big height wise ill be able to take some of it what ya think

Hi Jeep Boy,
Pictures as promised.
The outside plate is 4mm and mounted with three bolts and has a washer welded on at the recovery point one plate from back to front and strengthened by bar work.
The Inside fin plate grabs two of these bots and stops just in front of radiator support.

thanks heaps for that really appreciate it, been looking a lot at the bar and to make it fit and suit i will have to take about 100mm of each end, make new mounts to fit, and it will prob drop to low to suit the disco so i will have to take some of the bottom, i think i might be better of selling it making some coin in the process and settle for a standard d1 bar, and i also need the cash to do heaps of repairs to the disco

list of things i need to do

rear balljoint
all bushes
swivel hubs
valve clearances
timing belt
leaky gearbox
leaky engine

so i think ill sell the bar fund some needed maintnace and come up with anather idea for a bar

When I fit Flexi flares to mine and some mud tyres I will be modifying my bar slightly to suit as it works well when somthing hits you. :D:D

ok ok the bar is of a pajero there ive spilt the beans lol, thing is the pajero has a much deeper front end than a disco and i just dont think the bar will suit unless i pretty much remake it using those materials, although would prob cost $400 to buy the materials to make a bar, but im pretty sure ill sell it and get a disco bar its not the bar that i want but its a lot less stuffing around

yea i was really happy with the barrier i made it using some 25x25 rhs i had in the shed and i had an old bed frame ive been needing to take to the tip and it had the mesh on the bottom of it, its sturdy as the only part where i went wrong was the centre upright is smack in the way of the baby seat strap but it seems ok sitting next to it ive been thinking about making a window for it to go through so its centred

well im getting frustrated still havent got her back from the gearbox place first it was couldent get a govenor suppport now its that (memory blank) is leaking, i had a trip planned for this weekend and as much as he can give me is he hopes to have it done this week and the price is somewhere around 2k makes it hard to plan anything, on a positive roof racks turned up today interier light turned up yesterday

well im not so frusated anymore, he thinks it will be done tomorow, it had a hydraulic lock from a leaking piston, his confident that it will be ready tomoz and thinks ill get change from $2200 so im a bit happier now, the trip however has been canned he wants me to run it in around town for a while first, so that will give me a chance to get to work on it my plans are
finish the boot, need to get the draw bent up from aluminium and carpet it
than fit the roof racks and make a basket
install interior lights
make rear bar
make swingaway
than lift the old girl and get out there
also fit a snorkel somewhere in there

spoke to gearbox man and he is confident it will be ready the sarvo so i can pick it up and come home and transform the old girl ill post lots of pics and details as i do the work
not to bad on the box change out of $2200 and that was wuite a bit of work on it

well i got her back and the gearbox is still no good $2200 later and its worse than it was when i took it up there got 40km all good than locked in first and now it wont go into gear full stop so they can organise it to be towed back to them pretty diddapointed but anyway

i got a bit done today
i put a new interior light in which im over the moon with, i got it off ebay its led and cost $25 http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/2650/65140731.th.jpg (http://img29.imageshack.us/my.php?image=65140731.jpg)

Sounds like you did go through some hassle, but worth it at the end. Keep the pics coming, great work.

got the roof racks on, i bought them off ebay got 3 brand new for $95 and i must say im pretty happy with them, only trouble the ones i bought allow for 250mm clearance and the bars were just touching on the centre of the roof, i overcome this easily because on the legs the bars slide into provision for them instead i bolted the bars on top of this section(there only there till i make a basket which will bolt up to the legs i only bought them for the legs as i wanted proper looking legs not homemade looking ones)

been starting on the roof lights, i wanted them to be as close to the roof as they could so when i put the basket on if something hangs out the front it can go above the lights, i made the light bar out of some 30mm rhs

im happy now, the owner of the gearbox shop came to work this morning and picked her up and had it back to me in time to go home from work turned out the o ring on the filter had a nick in it and was allowing fluid to pass must say she drove like a dream on the way home and seemed to have a bit more go to

well we went out today and she went pretty good but i bent both side step up and had to get out the window all day so im going to have to redisgn them rather than just having a section sitting under the sill im thinking a c section that slides up over the box sill section with a step of that
