It doesn't really make sense. ;) However, I bought a set of these rims from Ritters for my mud tyres, and they seem quite OK with tubeless tyres. (General Grabber MT's)

if you use the search function you'll find several related threads on this;

while I have never had a problem with tubeless tyres on LR tube-type rims, it is said to be something of a "no-no" for some people & tyre fitters

oh yes.....

and I've seen quite a few 130s using D1 steel rims

so no really answer as to if you can or cant??? I was told tubless 130 rims are very rare, to buy new.

the real answer is that you can run tubeless on tube-type rims .... but you might have to fit them yourself

the big advantage as I see it is that if you run tubeless, then you'll have fewer punctures and those that you do have will usually be repairable without removing the tyre from the rim

... (wait for the bush lawyers & rulekeepers to strike) :o

...um...(assuming that you mean split-rims) the ones pictured are not split-rims

yes the ones in the picture, i think i sort of understand this wheel stuff, wolf and 130 rims are the same.

but most rims regardless of the style are tubed, ie the ones in the picture, and the ones fitted to pre 96 defender 130s

yep, referred to above as "tube-type" rims - you could re-read the link in 3rd post of this thread to get a cross-section of views about the matter...

The other option is fit RR alloy rims which have a 1380 kg rate and are easy to get.

I have a set for my Defe as well as the standard Defender rims.

Those rims come in both tubed & tubeless flavors. The only proper way of telling is to look at the rim & the part number... (It should say if it's tubed or tubeless)

The long an the short of it is that you can run tubes on tubeless rims but you can't properly run tubeless on a tubed rim.

When you run with tubes, just make sure that the inner walls of the tyre are clean and have had all stickers (quality control type things) removed or these will cause the tube to fail.

As CL said. My LR mechanic refers to the tubeless rims as "Wolf" as these are the type fitted to the British Army's "Wolf" spec Defenders (properly called Defender XD). The rims we get on 130's (which appear identical with the slots) are tube types. The genuine LR tubeless ones are available here, but at a price. It is worth looking up Pro-Comp's USA made rims as they are similar style (size is 16"x7") around $100 rim

from my comparison of wolf rims and diso rims the band/center has the same diameter. These look to have the same diameter band/center. So it would seem possible to substitute 7" disco tubeless bands to these rims centres. 5.5 " rims have a smaller diameter center so disco bands cant be fitted.

The question doesn't really make sense, I'm assuming you mean that to make them a tubeless rim, you weld a Disco 1 rims onto the 130 centre ?

If so, yes, that is a common mod to gain a rim with a safety bead and gives you a 7" rim and so a wider range of wide tyre fitments too.

As 87County said, read the link he posted, there are a range of rather strong views on running tubeless tyres on tubed rims :lol2:
