hi guys.
Am trying to remove the front hub to change out discs and pads cant get the flange nut to move what am i doing wrong any help appreciated

have you straighten the lock washer tab

the outer nut can be very tight, depend on how heavy fisted they were

the outer nut is a complete nightmare have only got mulgrips at hand too ?!?

cold chisel/big screw driver and hammer is the rough way to do it

do you need to put the dif lock on whilst beating the seven bells out of the centre nut and does anyone know if rovercraft do the land rover spanner that is supossed to remove the bloody thing

Rovercraft should sell it. If not Roverparts in Victoria definitely do.

If you're handy with a welder then just weld two tabs to a piece of square tube and drill a hole for a bar to fit through. Mates been using one like this for years.

Hi, I am not sure what vehicle you have, but of it is later than 1999 then there is a single nut with an attached locking tab on the nut. This will have been flattened against the flat on the drive hub to stop it from undoing.

You will have to relieve this by driving a screwdriver or similar between the nut and the flat of the hub to allow you to undo the nut. These are normal right hand direction thread.

my motor is a 130 tdi 1998
I get the idea of a tab to make a pseudo spanner with a mean old bar going through it sounds like choice idea may well be an option ( my mate is a boiler maker ) don't know i should worry about the brakes for the roadworthy but, they only have a bit of fade on them i am just noticing now, the big drama is the bloody oil leaks that will give me a heart attack one is easy sump gasket, the other is the transfer box, jordon rovertech were supossed to have done the intermediate oil seal before i bought the motor rang them today and they reckon its possible to do that and not notice the shaft has ovaled allowing the oil leak (possible? ) i don't know all i know is, it's another drama :(

You'll need a 52-size nut/spanner and your troubles will be solved. Funny yours seems to be seized, in mine there's always plenty of oil :D.

Go down to a tool shop buy a cheapish 52 mm socket, probably less than $20 The tube spanners are useles if you have to apply much force to them they spread open especially if you get one for a Toyota which are just a bit bigger than required by LRs but some folk will try to flog one to you (4wds blackburn). Use a big braker bar. Lash out and get a 3/4' drive bar and no rattle gun will ever beat you on the wheel nuts.
