just got my car back today from service. its a 2002 TD5 Disco 2. oil pump bolt was not loctited and was not very tight at all according to mechanic. guess that was money well spent getting it checked.

Thanks for the replys,is it as simple as loctite the existing bolt or or they replacing the bolt.I guess it you go that far you should use a new bolt.I assume its the bolt holding the drive cog on the pump?
Thanks.

Normally it is just a matter of loctiting it back in as it just comes loose and there is no damage to the threads. When removing you would have to check it for damage to the thread. They are not single use bolts like the head bolts.

Yep you can reuse the bolt unless damage has already begun to hapen.
I was even able to reuse the sump gasket. Replaced the gasket 1 months later when doing other work.

fairly easy job to do and worth the peace of mind.

new bolt is less than $5 and is pre loctited. i wouldnt waste the time taking it apart without replacing that bolt as it is so important

Thanks for the replys,The only reason I asked was its impossible to get anything for landrovers in Darwin, cant even get a sump gasket from the so called dealer so I bring everything up from south. So if you pay for a 3kg airbag you may as well fill it,am fitting new shockies and fixing an oil leak behind the turbo tommorow so will drop the sump and check it,got some gasket goo until I get a new gasket.
Cheers Ean;)
