The pic is a bit fuzzy, but this is after I trimmed the front and rear guards to fit tyres onto the Disco2

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2009/02/595.jpg

And this was the trim on the Series2 109" ute to fit tyres also.

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2009/03/328.jpg

Here is the bullbar for it that got chopped today to suit the tyres on it.

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2009/03/388.jpg

This one is an 88" taken out to 100" and the chassis shortened up and a new Xmember put in.

Thanks

The bullbar was off a Defender 130, its an ARB bar.

The tyres on the Disco are 34x11.5-16 which spec up at 35.2"
The 109" was on 37x13.5-15 Mickey Thompson Claws (37") but is now on 37x12.5-16 Maxxis Creepy Crawlers (36.6")
The 100" is on 38.5" Denman Ground Hawgs (36")

Actually, the 100" is also coil sprung at the rear and sprung over at the front on Landcruiser axles and a 3.5V8/LT95.

This is what it started life as:
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2009/03/300.jpg

Then onto sprung over Hilux axles and 31x10.5's
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2009/02/591.jpg

and then Denman 38" Ground Hawgs
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2009/02/592.jpg

Then it was Uted, extended to 100", axles changed to Landcruiser 60 series F&R, coiled at the rear with a Rover A-frame and the Hawgs were tossed for 37" claws.

They're a 285/75R16 Silverstone Mt117 sport, quite a bit bigger than the std 33 inch size (just over). I have a 50mm spring lift with a 25mm body lift but can fit with a 2 inch lift alone with some rub on compression in the rear guards (the body lift was on the vehicle when I bought it).

I over-cut the guards as I originally had LRA flares on, cracked one and smashed another on a rock so I gave them the flick and put the el-cheapo Clark Rubber specials on for less than $100.

Hi tim and simon, the 100" was carved up in the end due to chassis cancer and the 109 will be used as a carefree toy - no comping. Once the 109 is up and running that will be the most suiable for comping (not that I will) but I would prefer to link and coil it for that type of thing and move the engine a lot further rearward to help make it perform in the steep stuff. Will see how it goes once its running whether to start a new truck which is what I'm thinking or to strip and enter phase 2 on the current 109. To run big tyres it will need a lot of suspension design and fabrication which takes time for me.

Yeah, it looked like a bit of a roller skate.

Tim, the great thing about the way I've done the 109ute is that there is no reason why it wont be able to be reregistered once its complete. I've been really careful about modifying it within the guidelines of the RTA and the engineers scope of approval. The great thing about this is that because it predates most of the significant rules and guidelines it provides a lot of freedoms in modifying. Interestingly, it should also still comply with the NCOP if NSW ever adopts that also.

Actually, it has 10" rims which are not compliant currently, but would be under NCOP.

Ummmmm, i dont know. :(

They were both just LWB bulkheads to me, the 100" had been cut down at the bottom to suit the 88" chassis which rises a lot earlier than the 109". I'm not sure what the 100's came off, and the 109's is just the one that it came with.

17th February 2009, 08:54 PM
did you cut the bottom section yourself?

Slunnie
17th February 2009, 09:01 PM
The only place I trimmed on it was underneath the back of it where it runs over the chassis rails and outriggers. The notch out of the back corner (as pictured) was always there - something the 109's doesn't have.
