Times certainly are changing...but I fear its a global thing.
My Mrs had a similar thing after she stopped to help a woman & hubby who had parked her car in a ditch (skidded on the snow).
After being given the 20 question treatment about did she know how to drive a defender with more than 1 gearstick!! She pulled them out with the 110. No sooner had the rope been taken off the car they drove off without so much as a thank you.... schocking behaviour.
I reckon she should have pushed 'em further in, not pull 'em out:D

I think people also forget that land rover is in the global market and its no longer just farmers and enthusiasts that buy them! :)

That's just plain rude.
It couldn't have been his. All landy drivers are chuffed to talk about their babys.;)

I think ownership has changed, not so much in the series vehicles, but newer Defenders, Discos and Rangies. They seem to be owned less by enthusiasts, and more by rich tossers. I have stopped waving at Discos and Rangies, I get more waves from Cruiser owners. Most late model Defenders around here are driven by women, who don't wave, or flash their t*ts at you. It should be compulsary to own a series truck before a Defender to make them appreciate what they have and be thankfull!;)

Thanks tony for posting for me.
The gentlemen in question is described as male, caucasion, appr. 55yrs of age with a receding grey hairline. Looked somewhat like a solicitor/barrister (which probably explains a lot!! My apologies to any half decent solicitors/barristers (is there such a thing?) who read this reply).
I "work" in the area and if I see him again, have no doubt that I will have a friendly chat (:nazilock:).
I have to admit, that in my travels in my SII with the family, the general motoring public would wave, say hello at the bowser and generally were extremely cordial.
I just have trouble with rejection.........:BigCry:

You want to try talking to a Series or Defender owner when you drive a Sport.
Usual conversation if pull up near a really nice modified or original vehicle:
Me: G'day mate that's a really nice looking ******
Them: Silence accompanied by the old expression of a magpie looking down a bottle.
Yes you're right it's a different world nowadays and it's not for the better !

Was out shoping with SWMBO last night late and dark, leaving local shoping centre we heard a diesel trying to start, bonnet up. Introduced myself and did what I knew to help and was informed son on his way to help.
Upon leaving I gave the guy a small torch, u know the ones with 3 x aaa batteries and led globes.
He was very surprised and wanted to pay 4 it but we refused his $$$.
As we believe that what goes around comes around. :-)
Make of vehicle was T----a.
He believed his fuel guage was wrong and out of diesel.
Cheers
Tim & SWMBO:-)

Wow.
Series drivers are usually very friendly. Defender drivers normally wave to. It's the new disco and rangies you need to sus before you get a response.

a SII ute, with a Zebra stripe paint job
I guess some zebras can't change their stripes...rudeness of character and a lack of social skills is something that the parents should be accountable for and is not necessarily associated with that persons choice of transport.
Yesterday I was thanked for my courtesy and at the next intersection I was shouted at as being a pig... I took the former as a compliment and the latter as merely a cranky person with personal issues...not my problem.

Lots of Discos and the odd Deefer in my area. Very, very few of them wave.
I generally wave at any Landy but don't usually get a response. Must be city types.;) I grew up in the country and we waved at every vehicle on the road regardless of make.:D How times have changed.

Is this some sort of social experiment ?.:wasntme::p::D

I think its changing for the worse, still thats only my thoughts...

I try to wave at any of the old Kingswood's getting around my area, problem is that most are tradies hanging onto their old tonners and panel vans so I don't get many replies...
I wave at Rovers too, if you get a wave from a brown HZ Kingswood Sedan it's probably me :p It's my daily driver, I generally have the UHF on too ;)

I dunno Pat. I was standing with Frank's (Tank's) son last Saturday morning outside the video store on Boulder Road looking at his Stage 1 when a couple of blokes in an old extended 40 series LC trayback drove past, had a good look, and gave us the thumbs up.
Have to agree though - you never get a wave from anyone in a Landrover in Kal unless it's someone you know.
I'll have to keep an eye on Craig when I eventually meet him.......... :p

That's not just restricted to Land Rover drivers. can't say I've ever had the problem.
I have had a number of conversations with other vehicle owners at traffic lights when driving the S1, like "you must be mad too as my son has one of those".:D With a smile of course. Had a great chat to a bloke locally in a Porsche........I even suggested to him that I'd swap providing he came across with the Porsche and $10000:p
Chin up and put it down to a bloke having a bad day.

It's time like these you should use your available influence ... :wasntme:Bit more than a "friendly" chat may be in order!
