hi if have 2004 defender 90 and the gear retio is a bit low for me for road driving. Because i drive mostly on road and some on dirt i thought to change the ratios. What would you suggest to change for a higher gear ratio ive heard tranfer box from discovery any other and is transfer box best thing to do

...Or 33" tyres....:twisted::twisted:
Seriously, a 90 will benefit HEAPS with disco gearing. I'll swap you a mint condition 1.222:1 Disco transfer for yours, I'll even pay freight:D:D

Disappointingly the 33" tyres on mine dont seem to make much of a difference.

I have put a 1.21 ratio transfer case out of a 98 300tdi disco into my td5 and so far am quiet happy with the result's. :)
Does about 2350rpm @110k's and i am getting 9.8 litres per 100km's
I wouldn't do this though if you are still running the standard ecu as it would be pretty gutless!

you could also fit an overdrive.

Disco Tranfer works well. Have done this on a 110 before.
But i have put in a GKN overdrive in my 90 this time. Really cuts the revs for cruising... $$$ if you buy from here though. I modified mine some in the wiring department to reduce the potential fro problems.

Disco gears up the gearing abount 15%. Well worth it for touring.

Spend the extra $$ & get the 1.2Q gears from a D2. Q=quiet.. they transform the car on the open road.
