I have a D3 and have been working hard to load it with the armour I need. Was looking for feedback on the Kaymar bumpers.

It would appear that they do not run all the way to the wheel well and that they are made to fit with the LR mudflaps. Seems weird to me that I would need the mudflaps as well. Wouldn't the mudflaps. sort of get in the way, with rocks and or steep muddy drops. They look to me as if they'll pop off in more rougher 4x4ing.

Anyone have any experiene with this? Suggestions? etc.

I am also searching out other bumpers and they are only just coming out. There's Kaymar, Safarigard will be getting one out over the next few weeks and that's about it. So any word on the Kaymar and thoise mudflaps would be appreciated.

Cheers

Disco3z,

I have the Kaymar rear bar fitted. Almost needed a new rear bar after almost pulling the standard rear bumper off during a water crossing. Was a reasonable drop into the creek bed over a rock that was just the right size to tear the mudflap and pull the bumper off the clips, etc. This was even after sitting on offroad suspension setting. Didn't end up replacing the mudflaps. So sounded like a good excuse for a stronger bar if I was going to do any more offroad work.

All up the bar looks good and the mudflaps do reduce some of the splatter when driving down wet gravel roads (haven't done this much lately in WA). I also like mudflaps to protect the paintwork a little from stones and the like being flicked up. The bar also allowed me to carry my spare which is larger in diameter that the OEM tyres, as apparently these do not fit in the wheel well.

Cheers

I only fitted the Kaymar bar for protection, I have not fitted the wheel carriers. I have quite a few skid marks on it. The bar does offer panel protection.

The LR rigid mudflaps are useless off road  I damaged one on the Simpson trip and have made my own ones out of rubber sheet. There is a gap now between them and my Kaymar bar and I used some of the rubber sheet to fold around that space, looks passable ;) The Kaymar bar is very useful, I have two spares on it and a long range tank underneath in the spare wheel space. However the bar can move towards the the body work and damage it as I found out when I gently nudged a post(spare wheel blocked view:( ). I glued a heavy duty rubber block either side between the bar and the chassis and when a young lady tried to push the Disco with her Nissan Pulsar the rubber blocks saved the bodywork :D Where her LH headlight used to be was compressed into about 2cm.

Cheers and thanks for the help. I thought that gap would look a little rough on the D3. i was thinking of usiing some moulding I cut off to fit the sliders on.

Think I'll wait a few more weeks to see what other bumpers my come out.

Cheers guys
