I don't know if I should say it's a common problem but I've seen quite a few through work. It's usually the cable end that breaks.

UK problem has been corosion of the latch (aluminium) due to water ingress (and salt)
Remove the boot and have a look.

Actuator Cable Broke Recently. Almost $400 to repair including replacing the broken trim panel so access could be gained inside the tail gate.
Was told that I was lucky that it hasn't happened before this, fairly common.

I have seen it a few times. Trim destroyed for access. Both times I saw it warranty paid...

Mine was replaced - out of waranty. They managed to do it without destroying the trim. Said that they had done many that way...

Hi Scouse,
Which is cheaper, 1 hr of dealer time, or a new trim?;)

Best Wishes,
Peter

We had this come up at work. We needed into a locked store room. Nobody in the office had a key and the key holder was some distance away and slightly drunk so couldn't drive. Was it more cost effective to get them to taxi in & home with the key while we all waited or break the ceiling tile and go over the top? Lot more fun as well :-)

Cheers, Steve
