I would like to know if there is any place in Oz where I can get THIS (http://www.hi-lift.com/slide-n-lock/index.html) rail system to secure the load at the back of the Defe 110

Look out for cargo restraining systems. Try shipping, aircraft and lorry suppliers. If fitting them in the back of a land rover use some loc tite adhesive on the bolts.

I was rhinking in using an headsail 32mm alloy T Track but the tracks can be expensive if i need 4 or so for each side

A fella I know had something very similar bolted all over the place, in his Rangie and on the trailer.
He worked in the aviation sector as a mechanic
So that light be a place to source if you know anyone that works there

Thanks Jock, I believe that there is some hardware for the small planes like the Piper. etc.
I will look into that.

Look in the Yellow Pages for suppliers to the transport industry. Vans have to have internal restraint systems, tie down points, etc.

Searching on the web I found the Unwin System (http://www.unwin-safety.com/category9.aspx) which look suitable for my purposes (holding the cargo at the back of the 110)
This racks among other use are installed to hold the wheel chairs on the back of the taxis so they have to be good.
Tysons Pty Ltd (http://www.tysons.com.au/contact.html) (with branches in all the states) are the representative here in Oz.
Thank you for all the inputs.

We have an almost identical system over here that we use on the inside of the Defender and also along the tread-plates of the roof-rack.
Its aluminium cargo rail - £9.75 per metre, clips for it are £3.45each.
I guess you guys will be looking at similar prices over there?

This looks similar? Anchor Track - Bushranger (http://www.bushranger.com.au/anchor_track.php)
seems pretty exy though - I'm sure there must be something cheaper

Hi Jon,
Have been scratching my brains trying to remember where I got extra clips etc from in the UK. So far have not remember the supplier!
Was thinking that if Chucaro could not find a reasonable price source in Oz he might be able to order from the UK. IF you do order from the UK Chucaro then consider the actual lengths you require. I know some companies charge extra for what they consider extra long packages so there might be a cost saving if you get the supplier to cut any long lengths down to the actual lengths you require.

Brendan's right. 1m lengths are MUCH cheaper to post than 2m... at least if you want it to arrive straight!!
That stuff that you have Brendan is the same stuff we do. Clips the same too from memory.

Just digging up an old thread, as I've been thinking about securing loads in the back of the Defender.
I was wondering if nutserts or rivnuts could be inserted into some 10mm ply in a grid pattern and the ply fixed to the rear. Then some eyebolts could be screwed into the nutserts at the prxomity to the load that suits. That way you could keep a dozen or so eyebolts handy and some tiedown straps and secure mutliple items individually.
A couple of things I'm not sure about is the cost of nutserts, and how much weight they could hold.
What flaws to this plan have I not thought of?

Opposite Lock and ARB both sell it. The one's I've seen (and have in my Defender) have more slots, offering more mounting positions.
I have a couple of rails on top of the draw system for holding things down, or holding them back against the cargo barrier. I also have a couple of rails on the side of the rear tub, just under the windows (the triangle box section reinforcement).
Last I saw the ARB prices was a couple of dollars cheaper than the OL. They're around $50 for 2 rails and 4 rings. Rings can also be purchased separately.

Hi,
Nubco have ring nuts, a bit like an eye screw but screws onto a bolt just like a nut but is a ring.
Saw them when I was looking for cargo tiedowns for use in a trailer.
Ended up using lengths of cheap galvanised chain in each corner of the trailer, which suited what I was trying to achieve.
cheers
