Hi,

Just wondering which mode you would use in a FR2 for a steep rocky hill climb?

Thanks,

Timmo

(Thinking of trading the D90 in for a bit more luxury!)

On an FL2, Mud/ruts has the highest sensitivity setting for the traction control, so minimal uncontrolled wheel-spin.

Hmm, everything I have read says Grass, Gravel, Snow has the most resistance, also pushes torque to the rear axle from standstill where the other settings don't(not from stationary anyway).

With Gordon on this one :)

in the FL2 mud ruts is the best, puts the power where needed and works very well!

My vote goes to grass gravel snow as it will do all it can to reduce slip of the wheels. Mud allows controlled slipping of wheels.

Maybe you should start a thread and ask? Though my guess is you're more interested in trolling.

GGS does, but it does it progressively. MR does it all at once, and although it allows slip at higher revs, when we've driven over the same obstacle using both, the MR mode gives less wheel spin and better traction on gravel inclines and wombat holes.

I'll give it a try next time. With mud the more slip at higher revs makes sense as it is trying to maintain momentum, you wouldn't think you'd need wheel slip from start off.

Just another q about the terrain response settings..

I heard over the weekend from fellow LROCS members that the D3 has long throttle travel in Grass/snow, & more responsive throttle with the sand setting.

Is this the same with the FL2? It fits with my impressions of some limited kms on dirt.

The throttle sensitivities are very similar - the FL2 is _very_ jumpy in sand mode, quite de-sensitized in GGS.

I had it in GGS with Hill Decent on, in Auto with tiers down to 18psi. Handled a very steep, long hill climb that was rocky and full of gravel. Will try it in M&R next time to see if it makes a difference.
