I have just finished wiring the electric break controller on my Disco3, and have noticed while sitting in the driveway and depressing the break pedal I can hear a relay clicking and can feel the click also under the auto gear stick. Cant say I have noticed it before.

Can anyone confirm if this is normal? I tried disconnecting the plug from the newly installed controller, but made no difference. I installed as per instructions given by sniegy in another thread. Just hope I put the diode in the correct place.

Cheers
Craig

I don't know the setup for the brake controller, but it it normal for relays to click when they make contact as they are essentially a swich. My experience is that heavy duty relays will also generally be louder.

Don't you need your foot on the brake to get it out of park? Sounds like that would need a relay.

Yes your probably correct... just paranoid as I have not heard it before and noticed it after I had finished all the wiring.

Thanks

OK you got me! Read the post - thought I haven't noticed anything like that.
Tried tonight when I got home. Definitely feels like an actuator for brake and getting out of Park. I could only feel and hear it if I was in park or neutral.
Of course now I can hear it even if the radio is at full bore.
Cheers
