What's the application of the
On-On: £7.00 (each)Single Pole ON-ON switch for 2-way operation of accessories with their own switched facility.

as per halfway down the page

Would this be the type of swtch you'd use for, say, a worklight where you had an in-cab switch and a rear of the truck switch. Switching the switch would turn the light to the opposite state (eg if it was off, to on, if on, to off) ? Make sense ? Am I on the right track ?

not being able to see the pinout of the switch too clearly, i'd say it functions as a changeover switch, ie: up is on from inside the cabin, down is switched from outside the cabin

Yep...

Up turns your light on regardless, say for reversing. Down moves the on / off function to a second switch mounted on the light.

Well thats no use if its ON and I'm inside the cabin I can;t turn the damn thing off ! (assuming its "on" on the light itself).

either leave the external light switch off, or get an on-off-on 3 position switch

its commonly used inside the vehicle so that the power feed for something like your reversing light can get its power from one of 2 sources one being switched and the other being permanant.

I have a similar (but cheaper) switch in fozzy driving the rear work light. In one position it runs with the reverse lights in the other it connects direct to battery and I can turn the light on or off with the switch on the back of the light. of course if I turn the light off with the switch on the back of the light It wont turn on with the reverse lights untill I realise that Ive left the switch on the light off, get out, turn it on, get back in and select reverse again.
