Speedo/ Gauges and dash question

I've dismantled my dash and have found that the gauges were cushioned in their holes by a now perished rubber/foam material. Were these a special seal or should any appropriately sized O-ring be sufficient?

Also, some of my guages seem to have suffered over the years with condensation and or water leaks. Can the guages be serviced or is it better to just buy a new one? Can anyone recommend a good supplier?

The seal is a special part, almost certainly unobtainable, but the correct diameter O-ring would be perfectly satisfactory - and you may even be able to get a square section O-ring. Thickness wants to be about 1/16" or 1.5mm but is not terribly critical. Try any seal/bearing place.

I do not know of anyone who refurbishes instrument dials - some people have done it themselves though.

There are a few guys who will do speedos- I have used two different ones in Sydney and one in Carrington (Newc). Can't recall the names off the top but I found them in the Yellow P.
