Yesterday I had my second new windscreen fitted.
While the guy was trimming the old sealant from the frame
i noticed a cut wire on the drivers side pilar I asked if he don it
but a closer inspection showed that it had been cut for a while,
it must have been done when it was replaced at the panel beaters
last year. The little speaker on the drivers door now works as the
guy soldered it up while the screen was out.
Moral to this is if you get a screen replaced in a D3 keep an eye on
them as they trim off the old sealant as the wireing loom is very close.

Thanks for the tip. About to get mine replaced. Just waiting to find out if our corporate insurance policy covers windscreen replacement, otherwise an expensive little job.

Make sure they replace, not re-use the clips that hold the A pillar trim on or you can llose them.

Yes, I have some 100mph tape holding down my lhs trim, which wants to blow off everytime a freightliner passes the other direction...... most annoying. (trivett's - alexandria)

Even with new clips, they can still fly off. I have secured the lower end of each trim with a small hole and a zip tie and no probs since. The ties are down below the bonnet line so not easily seen.
