Does anyone know how to remove/replace the cigarette lighters in the front console of a 2008 D3? I'm using them for a laptop power supply and can't get a reliable connection despite trying several different plugs. I want to replace with a motorbike-style lighter socket with better grip. Do I have to take out the console cover etc or will they just pull out from the front?
I'm new to this forum, so trust this will post OK

Hi Lorenzo,
The centre conole tower will need to be removed as does the switch pack at the top of the pile(with the hazard switch) radio, hevac unit & then remove the rubber mat. You will also need to remove the terrain response module as a complete unit. Remove gear knob with a sharppull up & this will allow enough room for the bottom panel to come away enough to get the lighter panel off.
It is very firm to come away, so just be careful.
Cheer, HTH.

Thanks for the advice. We've been travelling in NW NSW and QLD, so only just got your reply. I think I'll leave the existing plugs in place and fit some better ones in an alternative location - given ur advice I don't think the effort of pulling the centre console out is worthwhile for this one job. Perhaps when I have other reasons to get behind it... Appreciate your help.

You may as well stick a cig connector it the back whilst you have the center console out.
