While trying to get some data for drivesafe, I measured the voltage across my battery at 17V (hand throttle on ~1500 rpm). I dropped the revs back down to idle and it was 12.5V. High idle 13.5V.
Guess it is time for a new voltage regulator or complete new alternator???

check the voltage at the excitation/signal point on the alternator with the engine off first. If its not identical to the voltage at the charge point on the alternator you need to find out why.

Alternator is workin fine!, I believe AndrewE found his was bad earthing, I found that mine was a loose connection to the reg, or the reg could be cactus
