Gday
Just wondering how people have run the wiring for their roof spotlights and work lights
I was planning on running them up the inside of my snorkel. But I'm not to keen on putting a hole in the bottom of the snorkel, in case it leaks
Keen to hear your thoughts
Thanks

For those interested and those who can make out the info from the crappy phone pics (I need a camera) :p
Here's what I did in the end
Ground the lip off the bottom hose and squeezed the wires between the two and filled it with silicone
At the top I just drilled a hole and put a rubber grommet in
The light bar and lights will be ready on Wednesday, so hopefully it should all be together by the weekend

Thanks Jock, I've been thinking of the same problem myself. What lights are you running on the roof?

Just one thing; if you do end up putting them in the bottom hose where I did. Make sure to put some tape over the edge of the solid hose. It has a metal insert that could rub through the wiring if you don't
You'll see what I mean

Could you also use those for the entry & exit in the snorkel if you weren't keen on drilling the roof?

Whats that called and how could it possibly be waterproof ? (serious question).

Also that could be handy because there is already a hole in my roof qwhere someone installed a CB antenna years ago. Bloody hard to get at though....

IP68 Waterproof Cable Glands - from Jaycar
These unique cable clamps incorporate a unique sealing mechanism which works on the camera shutter principle. Simply mount the clamp, insert the cable through and tighten up. There is no need to disassemble the clamp prior to installation. These clamps are rated to IP68. This is the highest rating possible. They are totally dust tight and protected against submersion in water.Other features include:- Trapezoidal thread for quick high torque tightening- No throwaway "O" rings - Long metric thread- Superior strain relief- PKT 2
You can also get them from any marine store - as it's what they use on the boats/ships etc.
Larry - I reckon you could as long as the plastic is strong enough that it won't crack once it's fitted ;)
