Hi,
Any idea of the top speed of a TD5 defender? And do they have a limiter?

I have once tried to see what mine will do, and got 155 km/hr fully loaded for a field trip (GPS speed)

I had 101mph on the GPS out of my 90 (downhill) a few years ago. They dont have a speed limiter

Top speed should be abput 85-90mph on the flat.

i got to 155kph in the 90 (fully standard) down a very large hill...think the aerodynamics were stopping any further progress from that number:twisted:

I have done this in my County, the Isuzu wanted more, the tyres, suspension and gearing wouldn't allow it.
Surely a TD5 could do better. In my standard D2 I have been over 160kph (private road of course)

Methinks at that speed it would have been doing very nicely. a little dance all of it's own, half a crown, sixpence, half a crown sixpence ! :)

If your not a proctologist or another type of expert in arses (example being middle to high management in a government dept) your thinking about this way to much.

dont know what it tops out at never needed to or had room to wind it out all the way, The engine does have a rev limiter, all diesels (and electronically injected petrols do.

Well I didn't say where.

And the 130's are supposed to handle better than the 90's when you have a state to turn around in.

Ah but dave I have spent some big $$$ overhauling the beast since then. All thats left to do now is the rear axels and flanges for the driveline to be in perfect order or so I have been told.
I even had the transfer checked for no good reason than I could at the time.
