When I was looking at buying a 130 earlier this year I test drove one in Brisbane that had a rear wheel carrier on it.

I asked where the carrier came from and the bloke said it was from an import Toyota Surf. He picked it from the wreckers and graphed it onto the driver's side corner. It was a pretty good fit. It didn't hinder the lights and the truck had been to the Cape and back twice with no signs of stress cracks on the top mount which bolted through the aluminium of the tub. I can't remember how the bottom hinge was mounted - whether through the aluminium or via the rear cross member.

There was another 130 on ebay and carsales.com recently that had a spare wheel carrier hinged from the left. Do a search and you might get some pics.

The other alterative would be to fabricate a frame coming up from the rear cross member.

I am sticking with inside the tub location with mine at the moment...until I decide on upgrades

Cheers
Andrew

My old man (brute) has a rear mounted spare.

It hinges from a plate welded to the RHS grab handle that is attached to the rear cross member and to a plate attached to the top of the tub. It locks against the tailgate. and is incredibly solid. Will hassle him for pics.

Hmm still no pics Ben.. :P

juddy I have a wheel carrier on my 130 - it was made by Kaymar and is "not bad" but I just had to have it re-done as it was worn and sagging a bit from much use over many years. I don't think Kaymar make one any longer. If you are up Brisbane Airport way or Redcliffe give me a call and you can come and havea look.
