Hi All, lost my spare key for my "02" Disco and was wondering if landrover is the only place to get a replacement? I'm too scared to even ask how much LR charges!!!!
Cheers.

There are a couple of previous threads that give a few suggestions. I ended up getting one of a private seller in the UK off ebay.

hey guys
Was just at a Gold Coast Land Rover dealer today to get a new remote coded. Found out that the one I have is the incorrect frequency => therefore not compatible. Need to ensure you purchase one that is the correct frequency or risk doing your money. Was quoted @ $315 + $77 for coding!!! 2x new keys & it starts adding up!
Has anyone had any luck with other options?

Can you program with the Nanocom to use the key manually?
IE; unlock the door manually and disable the alarm, then be able to start the car without pushing the button on the key????????
I seem to recall there is something in the menu about keys and such.
Cheers Lionel

I only got one key when I bought my second-hand Disco 2. I got a second-hand key fob from a guy who rolled his Disco. The key part (the shiny bit!) can be taken out, and you can just have normal key cut; with some filing and drilling you can then fabricate something that will fit into your second-hand fob.
Once you've opened the key fob you'll see that there are numbers printed on a piece of paper sticking to the circuit board. Somebody with an autologic / nanocom can then use those numbers to "pair" the key fob with your Disco's ECU.

If in doubt, check with a dealer who can tell you what was fitted to your car originally. As a general rule, only the 99MYs had the 315 system.

Apparently 99 models and some 2000 models are 315mhz. Mine is a mid 2000 and is 433mhz so thanks for the heads up. I ended up buying 2 off British 4wd out of Hobart. They were a bit dearer than the english ones but the postage is quicker.

No! My 2002 got immobilised outside the Amcal in Mansfield.

That Amcal in Mansfield! My old EA with aftermarket alarm would get stuck there but my Disco doesn't (433MHz). Think they might have fixed it as I haven't seen dumbfounded people around or in their cars for a while, nor alarms going off constantly
Karcraft sell the 433Mhz replacement remotes with a key blank

Just wondering if you got this key programmed okay once it arrived? How much did programming cost?

I just had my Key Fob for my TD5 programmed this evening. A kind fellow Aulro member, P38__ living nearby volunteered to help with his Testbook.
I bought the key from BMI spares at Mulgrave, NSW for $220+GST. I had to give them the VIN no, to make sure the frequencies would match.
The programming is really easy...took us like 5 mins following the steps with the Testbook though neither of us had done it before.
But you need the key codes on the key fob label, to do it. Search other threads, some members said that if you don't have the codes, you can open up the fob and read the numbers printed on the circuit board. TBC!
