Hi,
I have a 1999,110 defender td5, without abs, can anyone tell me if it is possible to use the same bearing on the top and bottom of the swivel housing, that is using part no. 606666 on top and bottom.
Thank you,
Papadad

Yes. Later models had no bearing on top of housing I think but all use 606666

Is this the same for all the earlier models. I have a 110 V8 which needs new swivel bearings..

Hi,
I may have asked this already but can't find it so here goes.
Defender 110, 1999, TD5, no ABS.
I'm going to replace my wheel bearings and swivel pins, can someone tell me the rover part number or a vender part number for the top swivel pin bearing,
its not 606666, this much I'm sure of. The existing bearing has no name or number on it, probably made of monkey metal.
Thank you,

You certainly posted a similar question. You've only ever made 23 posts so it was dead easy to find by asking for all posts made by you.

hey Justin,
They're not all the same I am afraid. The top bearing is different.
I found that out the hard way when putting mine back together.... (01 no abs)

Thanks for that Pete, thought I was going mad, so does anyone have a part number for the top swivel pin bearing, its not 606666. I have a swivel pin kit TAR 100040 but the bearing looks to be made of "monkey metal" and the local bearing shop suggests I throw it away, same with the wheel bearings p/no.
NP449291, they don't look very strong.

Hi PD,
I wish I did. I had my whole car apart when I spotted that, and ended up having to take the new bearing tracks out of the top of the new swivels, and then put the old ones from the previous swivels in.
I cant find the number either at the moment. i will have a look through my parts books this evening and see if I can track them down.
Interestingly the ones I got that were wrong came from LR and they had the Vin number to order against.......

Hi Pete,
This is very interesting. I have yet to do any later than Tdi (Td5 Non ABS) so am watching with interest. I have also got the 60666 part number from our supplier for that model:o

Ok it seems that the bearing itself for the top isn't available seperately. It isn't listed in the parts books or MicroCat apparently.
This is the kit with the bearing and pin.

The pic below (from the link )shows the later type bearing set up quite clearly.

Thanks to everyone for your efforts. I have a swivel pin kit but wasn't happy with the bearing, took it to the bearing shop and they said they wouldn't use it, to flimsy and not having a part number made it very sus, without a part number no one can tell anything about it. The guy in the shop said if you aren't proud enough to put your name on it, how good can it be.
I'll just have to use it.
Thanks again,
