hello all.

the other day my starter motor undid itself from the pinion end and fell off inside the clutch housing. upon retrieving the loose parts i noticed that a few of the parts were in fact no where to be seen.

now i am stuck without a starter motor and at the moment i cannot afford a new one. all i really need is the 2 sleeves that sit either side of the pinion assembly. i have tried all parts suppliers and have had no luck.

is there any thing someone can suggest to help me back on track? i would get the 2 sleeves turned up on a lathe but i dont even have an original to use as a template.

any help would be greatly appreciated. MR

I don't know what parts suppliers you have tried, but I suggest rather than Landrover parts suppliers, look for a long established auto electrician. A second alternative would be to look for a 'dead' starter rather than just the rings.
I don't know which parts suppliers you have tried, but have you tried Fred Smith in Wantirna? He seems to have a large number of dead Series Landrovers and I would be surprised if he could not sell you a second hand starter or lend you one to measure the rings.

Seeing that the post is in the S11/11A section, one would assume it's a............S11 or 11A ;)
