Gday All,
Not being really good on the Confuser it may be a operator error but am having no luck being able to install the Nanocom drivers on the new laptop with windows 7.:(
Can load the program and the pdf files but not the drivers to link the nanocom to a com port.
Any help would be great.
Thanks and Cheers Ean

You may not need the drivers Ean.
I'm assuming the Nanocom uses a USB to serial convertor on the laptop in which case have you tried just plugging the device in?
I'm not familiar with Windows 7 so that's about all the advice I can give.

I thought the same thing, but when you want to use it with the laptop it tell you to link the com port and to do that it says you need to install the drivers.
Will get the 15 y/o to look at it when she gets home.
Hope you had a great christmas.
Thanks and Cheers Ean

OK, what is the cable that you link the Nanocom to the computer with? I'm assuming this is a USB to serial cable.
Does it have a name and model number on it? If so you can probably locate the driver(s) from the manufacturers site.
Of course 15 y.o.'s are much more computer saveey than our generation so it may be quicker to wait her arrival.
Christmas was nice and slow and an incredibly hot day. Didn't go out bush for lunch but waited until the evening. Got rid of a box of those rather big Tigers, BBQ'd down the beach that evening. Very tasty and can't wait to do some more - probably tomorrow night.

Gday Derek,
the cable came with the nanocom unit so it has no # or anything on it but it fits the nanocom and has a USB on the other end, so I just assumed its the right cable, but the disc does say XP or Vista so maybe it doesnt recognise windows 7.
Made the mistake of eating some farmed prawns at a Chrissy lunch we went to, but redeemed myself boxing day with a big seafood cook-up.

You will need to get on their website and download the Win7 drivers.

Hi Ean,
I have nanocom software on my laptop running under Windows 7.
I think you need power to your unit before windows will recognise it.
So just plug it into the 240 volt and connect it to your laptop. Should be automatic from there. Make sure nanocom CD is in your CD drive.
Dave.

Gday Dave,
I trtied that, several times, it keeps telling me that the drivers wont load.
The actual Nanocom loads, but I cant get it to link to the com ports.
Think its possible its something im doing wrong, but I would have thought the computer would recognise it and load it automatically.
Will keep trying
Thanks Ean

Ean,
I suggest you reinstall the Nanocom software. Just put the installation CD into your CD/DVD drive.
You should be asked to Repair or uninstall Nanocom. Choose Repair.
This should reinstall your driver.
To check this Connect your Nanocom to power then connect it to your laptop.
Now open Control Panel ( Click Start then Control Panel). Now click on Hardware and Sound. Then click on Device Manager Devices And Printers.
Look down until you see Ports (COM & LPT). Click on the triangle before it and you should then
Nanocom diagnostit tool. Refer attached picture.
Hope this helps.
Dave.

Ean,
Firmware Version 2.05.
I can email to you if you want.
You will need to unzip the file you downloaded from Nanocom before you can use it. I can also email 7zip (Freeware) to you if you would like.

Ean,
Firstly you only unzip zip files. These are a single file or several files that have been compressed (zipped) to make a smaller file.
You need software to unzip files. As mentioned previously I can email you 7zip.
You install this in your computer and you can then unzip any zip file.
After you install 7zip, find the zip file you want to unzip, right-click it and 7zip will give you the option to "extract here". This will extract the contents of the zip file. You are then able to use the unzipped files as you would any other file on your computer.

Gday Dave,
Got yopur disc today, and followed your instructions ( the disc is the exact same as mine ) and I still cannot load the drivers.
When I go into Device manager I dont have the Icon.Ports(com and LPT)
I have the heading Other Devices..Nanaocom diagnostic tool..
The other thing I cant do is download the software upgrade cause it requires the com port # between nanocom and the Laptop.
Think I will just have to find why the driver wont load onto my laptop..
Thanks
Cheers Ean

Send Mattia at Nanocom an email info@nanocom.it and I'm sure he can sort it out. I contacted Mattia recently re features of the new Nanocom & compatibility with D3 & he replied the next day.
You could try going to Computer> Add Remove programs & removing Nanocom entirely. Then try installing in XP Compatibility mode. I haven't tried it but I think it is simply a matter of highlighting the .exe file, right clicking on it & selecting Install in XP Compatibility mode. Another option is to right click the .exe (install ) file & Run as Administrator. I've found that this is the only way to get some programs to install correctly.

Hi Ean,
you might try to login as real Administrator (have to enable it and set a password first in Computer Management -> Users), and also sometimes helps to connect your laptop to the internet while installing new hardware.
Cheers,
Ruslan
P.S. I've installed my Nanocom under Administrator account, Win7x86
