So my problem started this morning...

2004 D2 Auto TD5

This morn on the way to work a fairly loud and annoying BEEPING started. There are no lights showing on the dash and the car feels as if its operating perfectly, other than this damn random beeping.

Its a totally different beep to that of the Diff Lock, HDC, SLS so it has me stumped. It appears to come from right behind the dash cluster and is usually a series of 4 beeps about a second apart maybe a little quicker. Sometimes there are 5 chimes and sometimes only 1. It happens both while driving and stationary.

Has this happend to anyone before?:confused: Any ideas would be great as its really driving me nuts?

Another bit of info about my car is the soleniod bushes on the starter motor are starting to go I think as some times it doesnt start on first turn of the key and just 'clicks', turn her off then try again and all good. Having that looked at on Monday.

PLEASE HELP:confused::confused:

I don't think I've ever heard a beep from my D2a other than from the reverse park sensors and this is a very different sound to the 3 amigos chime which is more of a "ding ding" sound.

Do you have any aftermarket accessories such as a phone car kit that could be causing the "beep"?

Head lamps left on chime? Sounds like a clock chime.

Check all the fuses would be my starting point, good luck.

Thanks for all the replies.....

Bit of background, am the second owner of the truck and it does happen to have one of those wired in nokia car phone kits. All though when I push the button on the car kit (pretty sure its the button you would push to answer a call) it makes a different sort of beep than the one thats driving me crazy?

I guess in the process of elimination, I should have the old car kit removed and see if this stops the beeping.....

Hay
for the non starting problem where it just clicks, we had that, I cleaned the earth wires on the starter moter (easy access) and it solved it.
it's quite easy and simple and will probably save a fair few dollars at the stealership

cant help on the beeping though....

If you go thru the operators manual it should give you a list of the warnings and the frequency at which they beep. Most will activate with a warning light but there are ones that don't.
