When I fitted the second battery to my old D3, I carefully grinded out the plastic gusset supports inside the second factory battery box to provide additional room.

If you use a cranking battery for your second battery you can fit a 600CCA battery in no probs. (There are lots of threads on second batteries for you to read, don’t discard a CCA battery they are IMHO better than deep cycle)

Use the existing wiring trough along the firewall to run the positive cable back to the near side (If it doesn’t fit cable tie to it), battery isolator can be mounted in the space in front of the primary battery box with a simple bracket.

Earth points are provided on the inside guard, inside the spare battery box towards the fire wall.

Overall a very simple project. (Can't send photo's sold the D3)

Alan, highly recommend Traxide dual battery unit plus Optima yellowtop combo. Traxide is custom built for D3 and run by forum member here - drivesafe;

Richards is a 80 AmpH Varta. That is the biggest that will fit (as he said needs modification)

Resize you pic to say 800 pixels wide max.
Upload your pic online. Lots out there, I use ImageShack® - Online Media Hosting (http://www.imageshack.us)
Copy the "direct" link which starts "http:/......"

ie: http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/3778/pict0004k.jpg

Paste the link into your post.
Put "" before it and "" after it.

All the " are just for this post, don't put them in.

Noticed you are in Perth and I am currently looking for a aux deep cycle battery to go with the same traxide system you have fitted. Haven't seen the Varta batteries around, Where did you source it from?
