same why read a book that takes days or weeks to read when you can just watch the movie in a few hrs
Because it is often quite a different experience. No movie can hope to include all of what is in a novel, and I don't just mean leaving out a few events or a few characters.
That question deserves the same sort of answer as asking, "Why drive a Land Rover through a National Park to get to a place on the other side when you could just drive around the highway in your Commodore to get to the same place?" :p
I agree 100% mate. I've never seen a movie based on a book which even came close to being as good as the book is.
LOTR would be the best book->movie I've seen but even then it has squat on reading the books.
Tomorrow When the War Began was pretty good as well, I'd probably had preferred it more if I hadn't read the books though as I'm real nitpicky and notice all the little errors, some of which I reckon could slip them up if they make more movies (i.e., how close Cobblers Bay is).
I was a bit sad when they took the Landy into town near the end as well seeing as that didn't happen. Pretty sure they took a Beemer. Poor Landy getting into the hands of the baddies. :(
All in all I was pretty impressed though, a bit too much Hollywood in it but I guess they have to do that to sell the movie. The acting was mostly pretty good, except for in some of the more emotional parts they didn't pull it off to well.
Come to think of it one of my main problems was how stereotypical Chris was. It may have worked well for ratings but he wasn't like that at all in the books.
Definitely worth seeing if you haven't yet. Now to go on a Holiday and try and find the places where they filmed Hell.
good to see that some here know the movie Red Dawn.... Patrick, charlie, Lea, Jennifer, C. Tomas.....
So the question Begs, when were these books writtern?
