    The Avengers.

Had a restless night, so switched on the box to Ch 9 and caught an old old episode of the Avengers with Dianna Rigg as Mrs Peel, and partner in the fight against naughtiness and evil, Patrick Macnee as John Steed.
Any of the oldies remember it? What a very odd and strange program!
Apparently it was a popular bit of nonsense and had a bit of a following back in the day, but the one I saw had a silly plot with holes you could drive a LandRover through. The fight scenes involving mrs Peel must have been choreographed by the society against the depiction of violence on telivision.
Her movements were slow, awkward and gangly, and her karate chops and kicks wouldn't break eggs.Dianna Rigg was delicious in her day, but it's amazing what passed for handsome back then. Macnee looked like me! And I couldn't get a you know what in Kings Cross with a fist full of fifty dollar notes
Who was this couple meant to be employed by, that they "we're needed''?The Government?
And what was their personal relationship ? Did Steed and the presumably married Mrs Peel engage in a bit of slap and tickle behind the scenes?
As I said, it was a bit of silly nonsense, but for some reason I will set my alarm clock for the wee hour of the morning to catch another episode just to make sure I wasn't suffering from the effects of too much medication

Reckon you've hit the nail on the head.

All of the above made it so popular.

What I most liked about the show was the Bentley and later the Broadspeed Jaguar XJ12 Coupe (I think they just used the body kit on a standard car rather than a genuine Broadspeed).

Yes the Bentley was nice. Forgot to notice if it was supercharged or not.
Mrs Peels car was a Lotus Elan. Did that pre or post date the Jag?
Oh' there was a Series 1 SWB driven by the gamekeeper and a couple of WW2 Jeeps in this episode.

Good thing you Didn't catch one of my favourites.

"Them good 'ol boys" The dukes of Hazard.

Would hate to think what you thought of that.

What about Monkey. That was sheer genius.

Glad I didn't catch them either. Otherwise I would have switched channels and watched the qualifying heats of the World Paint Drying Championships.

You only missed the qualifying heats. I only watch those, as my nerves couldn't cope with the excitement and anticipation of the finals.Go Dulux Oi Oi Oi.

Dianna Rigg, Sigh! Alas we all grow old, and Di's wrinkles, on her person not her tight suits, need a thoroughly good ironing these days
