Great movie, but the only real (being picky) fault is the Landy is wrong period.

Possibly not, but that might just mean that you went into the movie expecting something different.

In the same way that we don't criticise Westerns for being unrealistic because the hero never gets his hat knocked off in the saloon fight and because everyone seems to be able to fire twenty or thirty shots from a six shot revolver, I don't think you would be disappointed if you were prepared to accept this film for what is was.

if you view it as a light hearted yarn, that developed into the sort of far fetched tall story for which Australians used to be famous, then you would probably think it did a good job of what it set out to do.

    What were you expecting?

    1973 Series III LWB 1983 - 2006
    1998 300 Tdi Defender Trayback 2006 - often fitted with a Trayon slide-on camper.

I had the same problem with Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Went and saw it, being a science fiction tragic. Hated it. Then everyone was talking about how great it was. Girlfriend (it was long ago) wanted to see it - took her, thinking I might have missed something the first time, it was still crap. Years later out comes 'the directors cut'. 12 extra minutes that explain the who thing and transforms the movie. Went again.....it was still crap. I paid to see that stupid move three times to come to the inescapable conclusion that it was crap....and people still tell me its their favourite movie of all time.
