If you have any interest in the struggle and plight of the black American's thru the years in their own country , then this is your movie, and you be amazed by its story of how 1 person can rise from the slave like conditions of his childhood, to raise a family and try and live a normal life.

I have read about Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, the freedom bus , and the basic's of the politics of the intergration of the black population of America. This movie is more about politics, then the life story of the butler , but they are entwined so it does work.

I thought it was a good movie, but my wife thought it was the best sleep she has had in a long time. A lot of people will not like this movie because its not full of action and suspense, its just one speed, basically a life story being told.

As I said , if you are interested in this type of story , you will enjoy this movie, if not , you may get a good 2 hours sleep.
