Caught up with this documentary on I view. Is a great bit of film. Most of what we have been taught about the landings on Galipoli has been myth. The Australian forces landed at night, not at dawn and on the correct beach, there was virtually no causality`s in the landings of the troops. The Australian army gathered there own very accurate intelligence on the Turks and controlled the landings. The causality`s happened after the landings when the Turks realised that eight thousand Australian troops where mostly ashore and attacked. The British had very little input to the Australian landing. The British conducted there own landings by the text book method of shelling the beaches first and then landing in broad day light. They were slaughtered as they left the ships. The documentary also went into the German alliance with Turkey and the reasons why the British where so keen to kept Turkey out of the war. The use of one of the very first air craft carries launching sea planes was all so interesting. These planes where used to gather intelligence on the Turks.
