This series that has been showing on 7 and 7mate and has been bloody brilliant. The behind scenes stories from true legends is awesome.

The series so far has covered Allan Moffat,Fred Gibson,Dick Johnson,John Bowe,Larry Perkins, this week Grice is the legend.Very good series and Neil Crompton does a very good hosting job.

Just watched the latest episode with the feature on Jim Richards, the word legend or champion gets thrown around very easily these days but he is well and truly both. Without starting a war he would have to be THE finest driver in touring cars, his record is outstanding if it had wheels he could make it win. I was always under the impression Brock or Moffat were the top of the tree. Not anymore.

    Question

Brock, Moffat, Richards, in that order for me.
But then they're "old school" aren't they?...The current crop are pretty bloody good too,...Whincup, Scotty, Winterbottom, Courtney, The Giz?
A good driver is a good driver, so who knows?...I mean ya'd have a bloke like Gricey, or Goss, and they'd say they were the best, but didn't have the best equipment blah, blah, blah, etc etc etc,....so who knows who was REALLY the best?
So,what I would say, is that, at his best, all things being equal, Brock would be pretty hard to beat.

A great series, really well done. A huge huge credit to Aaron Noonan too, Noons spends an eternity going through the archive and is absolutely fascinating.
    Cheers

I won't argue with you on this point Pickles,as you were around when these guys were at the top of their game, I guess the way this brilliant series put Jim's record on display hit home hard for me.

Just watched no. 8,on Moffat again, very well done.

Next one looks like it will be about the '87 bathurst.

Should be a cracker, lots of footage of cars on slicks in the wet.

That footage that has been around for ages of Seton in car,and the no. 10 VL on slicks are great.

It was a very interesting insight into what was going on at the time. It amazed me when he talked to Ford after the 1-2 finish at Bathurst, only to be told we can't give you any more money Allan. Then we said he was even buying his own spark plugs!!! WTF.

Thats what i find very interesting as well, you find out the truth(hopefully) on what was exactly going on at the time.

Pity Brock isn't around to tell some tales.

If you ever read that Dick Johnson book i mentioned in another post,it is full of the behind the scenes stuff.fantastic read.
