Since seeing the movie I have done some reading about Chris Kyle, and he wrote the book because he was told that a unofficial story of his life was being written, so he wrote the book and all the money raised ( even his commission ) went to his charity.

The movie is the story of him, its not a story of the US war in Iraq.

Personally the guy seemed to be a very down to earth person who could see returned servicemen/women needed help after they returned and he was doing something about it.

Someone who should be admired I believe.

Yes and very sad that it was someone who he was helping that pulled the trigger. Survives 1000 days in war zones and gets killed in his own country.

On a similar note ,When I was a kid We used to live next door to a survivor of WW2 who spent time as a POW, returned home and was killed many years later from a bee sting

When your number is up .

Great Film, and a sad ending for a man who fought to protect his country.

Out rage in the states with the Muslim community wanting this film banned, as it could show anger towards them.

Cant wait for Clint to make a film about ISIS, showing rape, torture, and extreme violence on innocent people, wonder how the Islamic community would take that, or would that be the highest grossing western film in the Muslim world. Sniper is based upon a true story, what happened happened end of, If you don't like something don't watch it.

Haven't seen it yet, but looking forward to it. There was a sniper movie brought out several years ago called "Enemy at The Gates" about the battle of Stalingrad and the battle of wits between the Russian sniper and the German sniper brought in to kill him. Also a true story as the sniper rifle used by the Russian is (I believe) in a museum in Russia. I thoroughly enjoyed that movie and have it on DVD.

I think that horse has bolted. Thankfully freedom of choice still exists in the west.

very historically inaccurate, but one of my favourite light war films.
