I wonder how many tek heads we have in the "armchair" forum?
My uneducated reason for the numerous SC's?
When the GT3 cars "lose their way" , because of their superior aero, they are already way beyond the physical grip the car offers so they spear off in interesting ways,, That Bentley over Skyline was , er, interesting... but way quicker than the Taxis
and then theres the concrete,,,
oh!
and the big news of the day???
Bathurst is building another track

I watched the race on and off for most of the day... Murphy's law - I wasn't watching when the really good stuff was on..
Great win for the GTR... If I had the coin - hmmm.. I had a deposit down on an R33 years ago, but got cold feet when trying to insure the thing!

Yes,..anyone can buy one, & if ya want a REALLy fast car, something that will blow away a Porsche Turbo etc, and for about a third of the price, they're ok.
But you're right, servicing/brakes etc, are ASTRONOMICAL, & having driven one, I wonder what it would be like on a long trip.
Not a practical machine at all, but fast?...YES.
Pickles.
It's a supercar. It's as impractical and expensive to own as all supercars are and I'm sure it's decidedly cheaper than many. What it can do on the road and the track is mind blowing. If I had silly money lying around I'd have one in a heartbeat. But like all supercars, the best way to experience them is in a situation where you can hand the keys back at the end of the day or week and let someone else worry about paying to keep it on the road.
I enjoyed a five year relationship with an R33 GT-R which doesn't remotely compare to an R35 btw but in it's day was right up there and was a daily driver without silly running costs. Everyday was a thrill and the R35 in my experience is in an altogether different league.
The GT-Rs are very special cars. It's a shame that the ricer brigade covet them and to a degree tarnish others perceptions of them.
