Firefly.....people dressed as cowboys complete with 6 shooters, flying spaceships that land on other planets where the towns look like Dodge City and the people still ride horses. How did he get the money to make the season that did get made? I can hear the people seeing it for the first time mid season saying WTF? To us syfy diehards....cowboys in space? No problem.![]()

Simple, Star Trek had Seven of Nine and Star Wars did not - I rest my case!
Star Trek - Science Fiction
Star Wars - Adventure movies set in space
Firefly - Cowboys and Indians set in space
I enjoy all of them, but one's not better than the other - they're different.
I also grew up with the original Star Wars films so it will always be the best films ever for me, closely followed by the first Terminator movie.
Star Trek TNG was during my student days and love that too, sometimes re-watch the whole series even now. Still good. First contact was the best film, in fact introducing the Borg was a stoke of genius, love anything with the Borg in it, even Voyager, especially the last episode.
I love both Star Wars and Star Trek - for different reasons.
Can I throw in a few other space Sci Fi's that I love?
- Lexx (If you haven't seen this, do yourself a favour - it is bloody weird though)
- Red Dwarf (What can I say - one of my favorite comedy's)
- Babylon 5 (Quite complicated, but worth it when you got heavily involved in it - cool enemy - the Shadow)
- Blakes 7 (An oldie, but had some very original ideas for its time - Mick, when are we having another DVD night on this?)
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.
I grew up with original star trek series on tv with bill shatner. Loved star wars. Never even heard of firefly. Also loved stargate, all of it including stargate universe. Still dream about 7 of 9. Gotta get out and see new starwars movie, will be great. Dont get me started on doc Who. Love it. All sci fi with a decent sorta story that is reasonably believeable is coooool
Cheers Rod
