Thanks Pickles for that background on the circumstances... It is sad that his life led him to such a false belief. I'm glad to hear that he believed it though.... He was misled, as we all can be at times.

But yeah... I'm passing on all that, and am just going to remember the phenomenal racing skill that could guide a car so consistently through the track on the perfect line for hours on end.

I watched the dramaticised movie of Brocky last night. Some accuracies but as they said in the beginning it wasnt a doco. I met the Man on several occasions as a young bloke, (myself young that is), and he was an impressive human being. He knew how to steer a car. But in his personal life, behind closed doors, he had his issues. Enough said. Great man, great driver, very driven. Everything had to be right. I even worked on his car once at city holden during the rally. The 3 vr commodores. He was driving as was ross dunkerton and ed ordynski (?). We were their service stop that evening when they were in adelaide. I remember fitting new discs and pads to his car. Refitting the wheels and torqueing the nuts up with a torque wrench. No rattle guns, only for undoing the wheel nuts. They were using specially made rotors that had curved fins in the ventilated part of the rotor and, believe it or not, they were using holden calibra calipers coz they had bigger brake pad area than vr calipers. I also remember they had shu roos fitted on front and dunco thought they were crap coz he had hit a roo and we had to fit a new headlight to his car. All in half an hour. All the workshop mechanics that were there had a pic taken with Brocky in the car and us surrounding it. Of course the dealer principal was in on the act as well. Good publicity i spose. That was the second last time i ever seen Brocky. Last time was at birdwood mill motor museum he was signing autographs. Great man. ****ty movie. But a few truths in it.

 Cheers Rod
